“Nothing Puts a Christian so much out of the Devil’s Reach than Humility”

Jonathan Edwards said, “Nothing puts a Christian so much out of the Devil’s reach than humility.”  Yet, humility is so rare in the Church.

Blindness to our own inner worlds gives us a false confidence that we are seeing clearly into another’s faults.  We can only discern another’s failures accurately and with holy love when we first discern and more severely judge our own.

Only when we are so grieved by the raw evil of our own ongoing self-obsession can God’s glory and grace overwhelm us with desire to love like His Son will we deeply change.
