Avoiding the Urgent for the Important

Everyone on Earth– President Obama, Bill Gates, Angelina Jolie, you, and I–have the same amount of time:

60 seconds in a minute

60 minutes in an hour

24 hours a day

168 hours a week

365 days a year

Time cannot be saved up or stored up. It is not how much time we have that matters but rather the way we use the time we have.

No one ever got ahead in life or became successful by simply doing the things that were urgent.  Those who get ahead in life, those who realize their goals and achieve the things they want in their lives all have one trait in common: every day they do what is important to God, not what is urgent to others.  They do what is important even though it means putting off at least some of the things that seem urgent.
