Deny Yourself, Not Your Emotions

Jesus, many think, lived on a higher plain, free from the encumberance of emotions.  He had no real anger, disappointment, sorrow, frustration, joy, surprise.  Of course, any cursory reading of the gospels will show likewise.  One only has to read Hebrews 5:7 to see that isn’t true.  So we will not be more like Jesus by denying our emotions.

Jesus did not deny his emotions.  BUT he denied himself by not always bowing to those emotions.  Jesus took his own emotions seriously, and so he expressed those emotions openly and then CHOSE to act lovingly.

Are there any emotions or feelings in your life that you haven’t dealt with?
