REALLY Wanting God

David wrote in Psalm 63:1,

O God, you are my God;
I earnestly search for you.
My soul thirsts for you;
my whole body longs for you
in this parched and weary land
where there is no water.

I don’t think many American Christians can identify with that verse at all!  How many of us have REALLY gone thirsty or hungry like that?  We have all our present and seemingly future needs taken care of.  We don’t know what it’s like to truly depend on God for daily sustenance.  And even when we can’t make ends meet we expect the government to take care of the problem.

This verse means “total 100% commitment and focus on God as if it was needed for survival.”  Everything else is a far distant second, not even registering in the mind.
